Released on September 6, 2024, The Universal Fire is Jeffrey Foucault’s first album of entirely new material since 2018. This collection features high-voltage performances captured live in a single room, serving both as a tribute to his late friend and drummer, Billy Conway, who passed away in 2021, and as a meditation on themes of beauty, artifact, and loss. Critics have praised the album for its emotional depth and lyrical ingenuity. Folk Alley notes that Foucault “traverses the valleys of loss as he takes a spin through a diverse swath of musical territories,” highlighting tracks like “East of Sunrise” and “Sometimes Love” for their meditative qualities.
